The importance of this book is very strong. Jevons was the first economist who uses the mathematic language as we today mean in this sense.
Jevons was also logic and he knew very well the probability and the statistics. His teory of utiliy takes the place of the value theory introduced by Smith and Ricardo.This fact was really a revolution.
The book is easy read and explains economic concepts well. It spends a lot of time on labor. But, generally a good primer on Economics.
The book is a very poorly xeroxed copy of an older edition. By poorly I mean that often the first or last sentence on the page is absent. It is not even bound well; the book sits with the covers at a 40 degree angle when closed. DO NOT BUY IT. Sadly, it is sold by , from whom I expected more. At the very least 'print on demand' books (in my experience always shoddy) should be clearly labeled as such. My days of trusting are at an end.
As it says, it is a primer, written a while ago, however, the underlying principles explained are valid in current era as well.
